Click Save. Notice Save button turns red when a window is updated.
The code is stored inside the browser so clearing the history could remove the code.
Solution: Use another browser that you don't use or don't clear the history.
Any browser can be used with this editor. FireFox, Chrome, Opera and Safari have been tested on a Mac.
Chrome and FireFox on Windows.
Chrome, Opera and Vivaldi work good on a Chromebook.
To use scripTower for the best results just place all your tags inside
a main tag.
Example:
<div id="container">
<p>Place all your code here and use the id container as your main or top reference selector for CSS and Javascript.
</p>
</div>
Use #container p{border:solid;}
var container = document.getElementById("container");
container.getElementsByTagName("p").className = "paras";
$("#container p").addClass("paras");
Just remember to put #container as the first selector.
Use a tag with either a class name or id as first selector.
Yes you don't have to name it container. use main or topdiv or whatever you want.
Yes you could give the paragraph tag an id and use that instead of container. Just don't use vague
selectors like div p{color:blue;}. Using a tag as a first selector will give bad results in this editor.
It's also bad practice.
Some minor issues but still important.
Although disabling cache is not required, rarely does this app freeze up
but when it does just save your work and refresh page.
One last thing - Loops.
Do the code between the brackets first then the condition.
while(do last - condition){do first - code};. This will prevent infinite looping.
Note: newer version FireFox has a timeout period so this may no longer be an issue.
Getting Started
Read the Rules section . A few rules that will make this editor fun to use.
Select a number to save or store your code.
Click HTML button and enter some code.
Click Save. The Save button will turn red when text is entered or removed.
Enter some code in the SCRIPT and CSS windows and then click Save.
While in the SCRIPT window and typing and the Save button does not turn
red, there is a problem with your code - usually syntax or misspelled word.
Editor
scripTower is a HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery and AJAX editor with Real-Time results. Cache disabling not needed. AJAX a server is required.
scripTower demo allows you to save/store up to 10 places.
The saved/stored positions are stored in the browser and are non volatile.
This means when you turn off your computer the code is still stored.
Turn the computer on later or next day and the code is still saved.
Read the rules section although they are simple they are important.
Notice I put all my code into a div with an id #container
This is a good way to start off.
Eventually you will place all major code into their represented div tag and
giving it an id name - like #div_form1. This makes it easy using the Focus window. Pro version.
I designed this editor to help me learn these scriptong languages.
I especially wanted to learn DOM.
The editor was built upon itself that is I built the editor using the editor.
If you like the demo check out scripTower Pro and the many features.
Insert/Copy
Insert/Copy allows you to insert scripTower code or save it to a file.
Select saved position number.
click Menu then Insert/Copy.
To copy code first select all and then copy/paste to your favorite code editor.
I use Netbeans or notePad++. Save the file to .txt extension.
To insert code back into scripTower, select an empty position then copy the
scripTower code from your text editor and then place into Insert/Copy textarea window.
Click Insert Code. Don't forget to click the Save button.
